Chamber Seeks Award Nominations

By: Linda Morris

The Macon chamber is seeking nominations for two annual awards.

The nominations are for the 2010 Existing Industry of the Year Award and the Corporation of the Year Award, which recognizes existing businesses and industries that have made the greatest economic and/or social contribution to the community, according to a news release from the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.

Quality, and not necessarily quantity, is important for these awards, the release stated. The evaluation criteria, nomination forms and details about how to send in the information will be available Monday at

Nominations should be received by Nov. 29, and only nominations are requested at this time. Each nominee will be sent a letter and more information, and then each nominee will be evaluated by the chamber’s review committee. The winners will be recognized at the chamber’s 150th annual meeting Jan. 21.

The chamber will hold a separate awards luncheon to recognize small existing industries at a later date.
