These 4 firms represent 2.5% of the total manufacturing companies in Bibb County, yet they represent 100% of the total union membership countywide.

There have been 2 work stoppages in Bibb County since 1982. Pepsi Cola Bottling went on strike in 1982; the company replaced the striking workers. In 1989, Cagle employees went out on strike over working conditions. They were back to work within a few days.

Macon and Bibb County have examples of companies from highly unionized industry sectors that have operated in Macon and Bibb County union free for years.  Another manufacturing company had their union decertified in the 1980s when the employees voted to end third party representation.
