They're at it again.
Geico insurance will add about another 150 people to its
payroll this fall to handle calls to its national auto glass
reporting center, which is moving to Macon from Fredericksburg,
Va.
Another 30 positions also are opening here over the next
three months as the company centralizes its lien holders division,
said David Push-man, Geico's regional vice president in Macon.
Hiring will begin in September and continue through the
end of the year, Pushman said. The new positions, which do
not require property and casualty insurance license, pay $10.37
per hour for .an annual salary of $21,000.
"These are good entry-level jobs," he said. "It
gets a foot in the door for people who want to look for other
opportunities as they build a career."
Geico, whose work force is growing by about 10 percent annually,
announced last month that it would need about 100 more people
to handle calls generated by adding Ohio to its Midwestern
service region.
The company, which has announced several hiring sessions
over the past 18 months, will have about 3,300 employees once
all new positions are filled. With two buildings located off
of Ocmulgee East Boulevard, Geico in Macon has the capacity
to handle about 5,000 employees, Pushman said.
