Job Tax Credits:
Job Tax Credits are available to a business engaged in:

Job Tax Credits range from $3,000 to $4,000 per
new job, per year for five years depending on the site in Macon
/ Bibb County.
As an example: Company A creates 100 new jobs in Macon and Bibb
County. They are eligible for a tax credit of $3 million to $4 million.
The tax credit can be applied against 100% of the company’s
Georgia Income Tax liability or in certain areas of Macon and Bibb
County, against the company’s Payroll Withholding Tax liability.
The credit has a 10 year carry forward provision.
Ports Job Tax Credit Bonus:
The ports tax credit is a $1,250 per job bonus for companies with
large increases in shipments into and out of Georgia ports. The
bonus is added to the Job Tax Credit.
Investment Tax Credit:
Investment Tax Credits range from 3% to 5% for new investment made
in Macon and Bibb County. The credit can be applied to up to 50%
of the company’s Georgia income tax liability. The credit
has a 10 year carry forward provision.
The Job Tax Credit and the Investment Tax Credit can not be
used together. The company must select one or the other.
Ports Investment Bonus:
The port bonus is increased to 5% for companies with large increases
of shipments in or out of Georgia ports.
Optional Investment Tax Credits:
The optional 8% investment tax credit can be taken in lieu of the
Investment Tax Credit for investments above $10 million. The credit
has a 10 year carry forward provision.
Headquarters Tax Credit:
Companies establishing or relocating their headquarters to Macon
and Bibb County are eligible to receive a tax credit of $5,000 per
job per year for five years. The tax credit can be applied against
100% of the company’s Georgia Income Tax or in certain areas
of Macon and Bibb County, to the company’s Payroll Withholding
Tax.
Research and Development Tax Credit:
The R&D tax credit is a flat 10% over the base amount.
Retraining Tax Credit:
The Retraining Tax Credit is 50% of the employers’ approved
direct retraining cost up to $500 per program per employee per year.
The credit can be applied to up to 50% of the company’s Georgia
tax liability. The credit has a 10 year carry forward provision.
Child Care Tax Credit:
Child Care Credits range from 75% to 100% of costs, depending on
whether the company provides child care or sponsors child care.
The credits are available to all businesses in the state. The credits
can be applied to up to 50% of the company’s Georgia income
tax.
Small Business (fast growth) Tax Credits:
Georgia income tax credits are available to small businesses having
Georgia net taxable income growth of over 20% or more for three
consecutive years. The credit in year 3 is the difference in the
net taxable income from year 3 and year 2.
